Finding gold jewelry(rings, chains, pendants) a Cache, silver coins and relics, any other artifact that comes my way. Main focus will be on finding gold jewelry, the pay back is better. 2012 will be the first year to devote substancial time in cache hunting.
Metal detectors I plan on using in my search for gold, silver, iron.
I have chosen 4 Garrett AT Pro, Garrett AT Gold, Whites MXT Pro, Whites TDI SL. Here are some of my reasons for choosing these brands and models. I am listing the metal detectors in the order I will be purchasing them. I also will make the note I am a Dealer for these brands of metal detectors an I want to do some testing on these models. The Garrett AT Pro, I already have a New one. What I like about the AT Pro. lite weight( 3 pounds), Numeral Digital Target ID, low cost $594.95, 15kHz (likes gold), water proof to 10′, 8.5 x 11″ DD coil, High-Res Iron discrimination. The Target ID works very good.
Next I’ll purchase is the Garrett AT Gold. I want to test it on the beaches and old farm sites in Iowa. First reason At Pro and the At Gold Use the same coils. The AT Gold comes with a 5 x 8 inch double D coil for finding the small gold earings or nuggets. AT Gold is lite weight, 18 kHz( likes gold), true all metal mode, all metal Iron audio, Ground Balance window, adjustable threshold, also water proof to 10 feet, Digital target I D, price $679.95.
Whites MXT Pro
3rd one to purchase Whites MXT Pro with 12″ coil, have used an MXT for several years. Is an excellent coin finder, also used for finding gold nuggets, 14kHz likes gold, coils can interchange with DFX, V3i, VX3, easy to operate. Three separate programs Coin & Jewelry, Relic and Prospecting. I mainly hunt in the Relic mode as there is less discrmination in this mode, detects deeper in this mode. The control knobs are easy and fast to adjust. MXT Pro has a Gain, Threshold,and a Dual control to set for nuggets and more depth. Batteries last up to 40 hrs of continuous. Digital Target I D is a must on a coin hunting detector.
Fourth Metal Detector I hope to try is the Whites TDI SL. This is a pulse induction metal detector. This will be a type I have never use. The TDI was designed for nugget finding as they are sensitve and go deep. Ground minerals are less effected by a pluse induction machine. 3 pounds with 7.5 inch and 3.5 pounds with 12 inch coil. The coils are Dual field coils. A dual field coil operates differently here is an example, 12″ coil also has a 6″ inter coil both coil work simultaneous, both detect at the same time. This coil will detect small targets with the 6 inch coil plus get excellent depth with the 12 inch coil on deeper targets. Check out whites web site for more info. on the TDI. Many have been using the TDI to find deep coins and relics. I hope to also use it in my cache hunting.

I mention in the beginning of this post that I would be using these metal detectors to find verious metals and one of the metals was Iron. Why would I want to find Iron? Lot of caches are in tin or iron containers. I know there are alot of tin cans on old farm sites but remember some could contain gold and silver coins.

I have sold several 100′s of metal detectors over the years, and I can truthfully say only 5% or less are really successful. I am not where I want to be in my treasure finding career, as I write this I only make between 30% to 50% of my income in the treasure hunting vocation. So this year I will pay for more coaching in my treasure hunting business.
AT Pro from Garrett Metal Detectors could be one of the Best metal Detectors in ti’s price range. As most AT Pro sell for $594.95 looks to me be very good value in that price range. Here are a few features I like about the AT Pro. Lite weight any should be able to detect several hours. Has Numerical Digital Target ID ( has number reading for the different targets). With target ID numbers a person will be able to tell more closely at what the metal target will be befor you dig it. 6 Different operating modes. Bell tone on coins in the standard mode. Operates at 15 kHz frequency which will be more sensitive to gold jewelry and nuggets.
You might say what is so special about these featues other brands and models have these features. This is true but can those metal detectors operate under water at this price with these features. Just a note when out metal detecting and treasure hunting keep your eyes looking for poison Snakes, Spiders, and Plants. I got into either poison Ivy or Oak an I got it very bad. So be warned don’t lose detecting time because your sick. As with me I must be very allergic to what ever I got into, because as I am writing this my right leg and foot is swollen. Can’t even get my boot on so be observent when in the field or even your own yard.

It is kind of sad that of all the metal detectors sold that only 3% percent get success in the finding of Treasure. I can answer why I think this is the case from my own experiences. If I could help just 1 or 2% more percent to reach their goal would be fantastic.

As I have been doing research and thinking about my new book, important information has came to my atention this weekend (3-10-12). As I have known for a year or so that silver was kept from rising like gold has. Infact there has been several times silver droped way to low than it should have. The silver market price has been manipulted the last 4 years or so. The Manipulating banks and others organlizations caused silver to stay low and then make it go lower.
Here is an example of what I mean. Lets say silver is $30 per ounce. and you purchase( or persuade) several people-companies or who ever to but their silver in your bank. You say if silver goes up they( the people ) are fine and make money on the silver. But in the contract it states that if silver goes down the people or comany has to come up with the difference.
So you the Big Bank-organization could some how make Silver go down. You definitly do not want the silver to go up especially if you have to pay back to the people who has the silver in your bank. So you figure out a way to make it the price of silver go down. If you can make drop fast you make more money quicker.
Here is an example People are holding their silver at your location for 6 months for interest. Interest is if silver goes up you get more money if silver goes down you lose money. So at the time you put your silver is at $30 per ounce. Some how you make silver go down to $20 per ounce. If you are dealing in a milion ounces it means you( the Big Bank) just made $10,000,000 because that is how much less you have to pay back.
I have heard that one such Big Bank made $220,000,000 in just a few days buy manipulating silver to drop a bunch,
I Wrote all this to say what I will write now, soon another Silver player will come on the world sceen. It will be located in Hong Kong where it will be able to sell to China and India 2 of the worlds largest percious metal buying countries in the world. Where before those countries had to go through (Bg Bank) to purchase there silver and the minimum I believe was 5000 or 10,000 troy ounce. Where the New Silver Player their minimum purchase is 1000 troy ounces. And they can use what ever their countries monitery system uses. yen, yuan, pounds, dollars
So the forcast is that silver is going to go up substantially in the next 12 to 18 months. At this time I believ that silver should be around $100-$115 per ounce. But the prediction is going to $200 plus. Main reason is Big Bank will not be able to control the market any more, and the demand in China and India will be higher.

Belief ! Most people do not think there really is any treasure to find.
I believe the Greatest Treasure Hunting tool you have at your disposal is your mind. Use it in your endeavor to find Treasure. Take time to do Research before and after you get your metal detector. If you need more knowledge get it. Need more money buy less-buy preowned. Find a way to get what you want with out money-Barter. Barter your time-sell items you don’t need any more. Cook your meals at home. Fast a day a week use that money to buy gas to go Treasure Hunting. Find a way to be more successful. Watch less TV. Be around people who are positive. Most of us do not want success bad enough.
First even if you just found clad coins in time you would amass a large quantity of coins. Then exchange them for Gold or Silver. When people see the Treasure I’ve found they say “man you sure are lucky”. Luck very seldom has anything to do the success you have. Most things that will help us succeed has little or no cost. Hard work, research, patience, determination, read books, use the Internet, joint venture, hirer a Coach-Consultant.
I remember a story of a man ( we will call Bill) who left home to go west to find Gold. Found a promising spot and started digging. Was hard digging so Bill hired some men to work for him. In the first 60 days he was bring in $1000 dollars a week at $18 per ounce. By the end of 90 days Bill had to let all of his crew go. He kept digging another 30 days nothing so he decides to sell the mine and all his tools. Sells and gets enough money to go home to Iowa.
2nd owner(we will call Jim) looks over the records that Bill kept and decides to hirer a Geologist( will call Ben) to come and look at his mine. Ben goes over the records -takes samples-looks at the surrounding area-goes in to the mine, this takes about a week. Ben shows his results to Jim the mine owner. Ben gives several suggestions on where to dig. and is paid for his time.
Jim proceeds to dig . Digging goes slow, on the 7th day on one of suggestions Ben gave, Jim found Gold. Jim had only gone 3 more feet from where Bill had left off. In the coarse of the next weeks the Gold vein got larger. Jim was bringing in $100,000 a month which lead him to a very successful life. In reality Bill had done most of the work-found the gold at first. Bought the tools-work hard- but if he would have been a little more persistent and got more knowledge he would have been the successful one.
Will you be successful or be the one that gives up 3′ from success-you are the only one that will decide. Maybe you’ll find that cache of Double Eagles or a 3 carat diamond ring. If you don’t go you will not find.

Treasure Found by me
If you are rich you go where it is warm and continue as you did at home. Always get permission where ever you go.
For those of us that are not rich to go to Florida, then winter is the time to do Research. Research is a must if you want to find treasure. For those who want success and for those of us who have had success research is the key that opens the treasure chest. You must go to the libraries, get out the history books of your area and start looking for Treasure leads. Clues to where treasure may be at. I guarantee that every county, city,or town has treasure, you must uncover the clues of your area.
For example several years ago I was doing some research in my area I came across a small paragraph telling of a beach where people swam from 1890′s to the 1930′s. Took 3 years to find the lake and area.( I had a full time job plus a family to take care of). Because I was busy I hired a person to do some of the research for me.
As the information came in I started to get a little excited. But I did think that the site would have been detected already becaue it was near a large city. I can still remember the first time I went to the lake to see if I could locate the beach. As I looked at the maps and pictures I aquried, I tried to visualize what it looked like a 100 years ago. I took some pictures of different areas of the lake. After I got the pictures developed (no digital camera then) I studied them and with all the information I had on hand I picked a spot I thought was the old Beach.
I still had a problem, I didn’t have a under water metal detector yet. That would took a few more months to get enough money saved up to buy one. The researcher I had hired did not want to get in to the water so I askeda new friend if he wanted to meet me at the lake and I would show him a place where I thought an old beach was located.
In those days I didn’t have a wet suit yet. I can still remember how calm the lake was. With hardly no people there it didn’t really look like a beach but I got out my under water detector and just walked into the lake with the clothes I was wearing. I went in myself – my new friend would not even get in to the lake. His famous words were ‘this doesn’t look like a beach’. ’I know but the research says it is here.’ ‘I’m not getting wet’, (he even had a wet suit). As I detected the first few targets were junk, then I found a V-nickel-then an indian cent, the 6th or 7th target was a gold ring 14k My friend on the shore kept asking what I had found I said come and see. Then a few minutes later another gold ring. Every time I got a good target especially a ring I’d say alright today is the Day.
Finally my friend couldn’t stand it no longer, he got wet when he saw the old coins and the Gold rings that I had found in only 20 minutes he went back to his pickup and got his metal detector. To make a long story short the research that was done years before finally started to pay off. An to this day I can not believe why nobody had metal detected that old Beach. What did we find? The first years were the greatest, even in 2009 we still find Gold and siver rings. We have found 150 to 200 Gold rings-200 to 250 silver rings 100′s of coins 4 Morgan silver dollars 10,000 or more pieces of junk .
So Take these cold winter days an do your research who knows what you will find out. Maybe be the next story will be of the 2 gallon crocks filled with silver dollars, the cache was found but why couldn’t I have been the finder.
So as Mel Fisher said every day as he looked for the Atocha Today is the Day will 2012 be your year to find the big one. If you donot go you will not find, do the research and make the percentages lean in your favor.
